How fairly could the definition of “philanthropists” be attributed to Cypriot citizens?
Considering that all humans rely on each other for survival, offering help to our fellow citizens in any form is essential for all humanity and the continuation of life on our planet! The power of volunteering and giving, is undeniably huge, with valuable benefits for both the receiver and the giver.
In a recent survey conducted by our company through the online platform MyOpinion, in a representative sample of the population of Cyprus aged 18-65, 78% stated that in the last 1 year they have donated money to a charitable cause, 67% have helped a foreigner /unknown who needed help and 35% volunteered some of their time to some organization/association.
According to global data published by CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) through the report World Giving Index (10th edition), which were collected through long-term surveys conducted over a period of 10 years, our country ranks 24th among 126 countries that received part of the research on volunteering and giving!
So one could fairly argue that philanthropy is a feature of our culture
Additionally, based on our MyOpinion member data, 1 in 4 of our members who have redeemed their points have donated the equivalent amount of their fee to one of the 11 charities we work with, exceeding €15000 euros in contributions to charities from more than 1000+ panelists!
So we are doubly proud: both for our country and for our members!
